Updated: One Driver Cited in Friday Night Crash
One man was flown by helicopter to UMass in Worcester while another was taken by ambulance to MetroWest Medical Center following a head-on collision.
A 74-year-old Maine man was cited for failure to stay right following a head-on collision Friday night on Washington Street, Holliston police said Monday.
Ernest Siegel, of Kennebunkport, ME, was driving west on Washington Street near Washington Path when his 2010 Subaru Impreza crossed the center line and struck a Dodge van driven by 54-year-old Holliston resident Gergory Smith.
The impact caused the van to flip over on to its roof, said Sgt. Mark Lewis Friday night.
Both men had to be taken to hospital after the crash. Emergency personnel from the Holliston Fire Department removed Smith using the Jaws-of-Life at 8:14 p.m., according to Fire Chief Michael Cassidy. Smith was then taken to the nearby landing zone at FEMA (1580 Washington Street) and airlifted by New England LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester at 8:51 p.m.
Siegel, meanwhile, was taken by ambulance to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
