Irene's Fury Captured in Police Log
Dispatchers fielded dozens of calls about Irene-related damage, from every corner of town.
For more than 12 hours Saturday, dispatchers at the Holliston Police Department fielded a nearly unending barrage of calls.
The log gives a sense of how many parts of town were touched by Irene and why the cleanup may take several days if not longer.
Duplicate items were edited out, as were non-storm related items.
Sunday, Aug. 28
The first obviously storm-related report came in at 7:51 a.m. Sunday, with a caller reporting a tree in the road on Concord St.
From there, the activity picked up to a furious pace:
8:11 a.m.: Tree on wires, Prentice St.
8:17 am.. Tree on wires, Union St.
8:35 a.m.: Tree on wires, Winter st.
9:13 a.m. : Tree on wire, Exchange st.
9:16 a.m.: Tree in roadway, Loring St.
9:23 a.m.: Tree struck building, Kathryn Ln.
9:31 a.m.: Tree struck home on Noforlk St.
9:37-a.m.: Tree in road, Mill St.
9:48 a.m.: Tree blocking road, Bogastow Brook Rd.
10 a.m.: Tree on wire, Underwood St.
10:11 a.m.: Trees, poles and wires down, Marked Tree Rd. and Robin Hill Rd.
10:20 a.m.: Limb down on wires and roadway, Adams St.
10:32 a.m.: Prospect St., tree in road
2 p.m.: Damage to car from falling tree limb, Green St.
2:50 p.m : Tree fell onto house, Sweet Grass Ln.
A lull appeared to develop in the afternoon. As a weakened Irene pulled away later at night, however, another round of activity developed.
10:39 p.m.: A motorist reported seeing a flash on Concord St. followed by wires falling.
11:29 p.m.: Sparking wires were reported on Prentice St.
