Fashion Shoot Part of Innovative Trend for Selling Homes
Last Saturday, a cleverly-planned photo shoot highlighted a unique Holliston house while showing off the latest fashions.
With models dressed in the latest fashions from Lyn Evans for Potpourri Designs, drinking cocktails by the pool as photographers eagerly snapped pictures, it could have been a scene from a Hollywood movie.
It was actually the setting Saturday at 464 Marshall St. in Holliston, where Leslie and Kyle Mann of Hallmark Sotheby's International Realty in Hopkinton are bringing a unique and innovative approach to selling real estate to the New England market.
“We have a fabulous house for sale and Lyn Evans has fabulous clothing, so we thought we would partner together to do a fashion shoot in order to highlight the indoor pool and other great features,” said Leslie Mann.
A few of her friends agreed to pose as models for the photo shoot, which not only showed off the home, but the clothes, hair styles and makeup as well. Platinum Cut and Color Salon of Hopkinton did the hairstyling and The Color Studio of Wellesley did the makeup.
Lyn Evans’ Linda Zoltowski, manager of the Westborough store, and Christen Stumpf, the store's marketing director, were both on hand to help get the models ready.
“'Clothing for all your lifestyles' is our motto,” says Zoltowski, so it was easy for them to find several outfits to enhance the various aspects of the house.
“Our line has casual clothes, like a pair of leggings with a nice poncho sweater, to dressy clothes like you are going to a wedding,” added Stumpf.
Although the real estate market has been more healthy recently, traditional methods of selling homes are not enough. The Manns felt a different type of marketing was needed to draw attention to a home and move it through the market quicker.
Usually, those interested in buying a home scour social media outlets, real estate websites or magazines. But the Manns think this new tactic can pique the interest of even more potential buyers.
“By putting real people enjoying the space in the house, they will be able to bring it to life,” said Leslie Mann. “Something like this will get people that weren’t already looking for a house interested as well.”
According to Leslie Mann, there are currently 52 homes for sale in Holliston, with an average 109 days on the market. In the past six months, 82 homes have sold with an average sale price of $469,751. Homes in higher price ranges tended to sell faster, with an average of 50 days on the market.
Decked out in elegant dresses, the models enjoyed a sip of champagne poolside while photographers Lucie Wicker and Raquel Goncalves from Lucie Wicker Photography of Boston snapped away.
“I’m a nurse and live in scrubs all day long,” said Michelle Covell of Sherborn. “This is fun to be in all this great clothing today.”
